Social Score System

Type: Short Film (40min)
Project Status: Completed & Published

“Social Score System” is a short film I wrote and directed. The pre-production of this project began in Spring 2020 with the aim to shoot the film in December 2020, which however had to be postponed due to the pandemic. Finally in April 2021 the project was shot over the span of nine days.

In a society led by the greed for “Social Points” the protagonist Rita Satrebil looses here only space of privacy. The “Social Score System” rates every person’s behaviour with the use of mass surveillance. The system is justified as a mean of safety for society, however the rules for society do not get chosen by themselves. One day Rita looses points, although she is alone in her home. It turns out that she has become one of many victims of private surveillance at home. This is the start for Rita’s fight against the surveillance and for her freedom and privacy.

This film was created as a project in my university. I filled most rolls myself as the writer, director, producer, editor and colorist. For the cinematography I teamed up with Joseph Shemunkasho, who worked on the project as the director of photography. In total this film was made possible thanks to a crew of 20+ people. The full credits can be read in the credit scene of the film.

In December 2022 I completed the film and published it on YouTube, where it can be watched in full length for free.
